The weather is changing fast, as is the case in most high mountains in the world. The sky is full of grey clouds and there is a light snow fall. This is usual weather in the high Andes. To make things complicated, this picture was taken during the southern hemisphere winter, but in the Andes, they call it Andean summer because the weather is usually sunnier and dryer at that time of the year, and the other way round in summer / Andean winter.
And of course a GE engine adds its black smoke to the drama, making for a perfect mood shot.
