Remarks & Notes
Sweden in Iran

The RAI Rc4 is a class of 4 axle Bo'Bo' electric locomotives; the units have a similar design to the Swedish SJ Rc4.

8 units were built by ASEA and SGP in 1979/81 for the 146 km long single track Tabriz Jolfa line. Jolfa is the border station with Azerbaidjan where the Russian broad gauge line starts (almost no cross border traffic currently). The line was electrified because of its steep gradients.
Engine characteristics:
25 kV, 50 Hz AC, traction motors: DC
4,800 hp (3,600 kW), 100 km/h
