The culmination of a text message received on November 19, requesting a paint scheme adaptation for a pair of GE AC4400CWs for the Central Maine & Quebec, came to fruition on February 9, when the first of two such units were released. That message from CMQ VP Ops Chad Mowery, indicated that they would like to see the Bangor & Aroostook E7A scheme adapted for the AC (alternating current) traction GEs that were being long-term leased. CAD Railway Services went to work on completely overhauling the locomotives, adding new components, wheel sets and rebuilding every possible component that was able to be reused. The two units, ex-CEFX 1002 and 1006, will both wear this scheme and retain their CIT/CEFX numbers with CMQ reporting marks. The plan is to pair the AC4400CWs after they are released from CAD in the next month. These are NOT replacing SD40-2Fs, rather supplementing the fleet.
