UP 1988,
"The Katy"
eases away from Academy into Colorado Springs. The temp. was about 24 degrees, and the wind chill even colder. But as a railfan, I wouldn't let this beauty get by me.

BNSF 6110 flys north into Monument.
After walking up the service road a ways, i caught this northbound BNSF empty coal train heading north in a hurry.
This train would later that day hit a SUV killing three.
