Remarks: A race between ex VR broad gauge K 183 built 1943 and standard gauge ex NSWR 3801 4-6-2 built 1943 stomping through Donnybrook heading south to Melbourne. The wheels of the K are spinning as the "Jolly Green Giant" lopes along. 53 K class were built for the VR and 30 of the 38ers were built for the NSWR.
Yes, VR type lower quads. The VR adopted tumbler type lower quads, hence the different pivot point for the blade to the normal type where the lens shade is attached to the end of the blade. The semaphores are on the Broad Gauge double tracks. VR type searchlight signals are on the standard gauge on which 3801 is stomping along beside the broad gauge K class. VR adapted US speed signalling, whereas here in NSW we use Route Controlled type signalling.
