Remarks: Deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, southbound freight train Q693 rolls down the mainline while northbound freight Q692 holds in the siding at the north end of Poplar siding. Poplar is a great location for watching some serious mountain railroading, former Clinchfield style!
