Remarks: Pile driver work extra 489 east serves as a head end helper on 487's photo freight with rear helper 488 shoving on the rear as the train makes a thunderous climb through Dalton. At the top of Cumbres Pass the 489 will head east to Antonito with the pile driver for winter storage, 488 will run the wye and head light back to Chama and 487 will take the photo freight to Osier.

I know that it's called a pile driver, but what excatly was the car used for when doing track work on the D&RGW?

Great use of three different focal length perspectives without using the zoom lens. Pile drivers built and repaired pile trestles.
