Remarks: NS westbound 65J with a trio of SD40-2s running notch 8 and a C40-9 just along for the ride. The SD's really put on a sound show all around the curve hauling trash on a crisp Fall day.
Now it just does not get any better than that. My absolute favourite locos the SD40-2's at notch 8 on the line closest too me on this video doing about 10 MPH with that Sound that is Pure and Raw and the mark of the SD40-2.That has made my day.I have been living over here in the U.K for 6 years now. I am from Canada and I miss hearng the SD's pounding the rails out at the Cambellville Climb just west of Toronto.Although I enjoy seeing the Canadian Built Class 66's over here, there is just no match to the roar of a notch 8 SD consist and 100 cars trailing compared to a single Class 66 and perhaps 10 stone chasers behind.Close but no cigar.I am going too listen to that again.
What a show! I remember the week I was there one of the 65J's had 5 SD40-2's (2 being helpers) on the point! It doesn't get any better than raw 645 on full-tilt! Sounds a lot better than it smells, that is for sure.

Agree, that is the best sound of any diesel video heard here. Reminds me of all those Canadian Pacific SD40-2 in the Kicking Horse and Rogers passes in British Columbia as they run through those tight mountain passes with the sound reverberating off the mountains. Thanks for posting the video

See it, hear it and smell it while you can. This is probably the last place on earth where the SD40-2 is still king of the hill.
