Remarks: On a beautiful winter day in mid February, 2009, the Coast Starlight pulls into and then departs Santa Barbara, California with P42DC's 148 and 10 and the NPCU F40PH "cabbage" 90278. The 90278 is returning to the Pacific Northwest service after work at Amtrak's Redando facilities. This consist is in a way reminiscent of the lashups of the mid t late 1990's, with 2 GE P42s leading and an F40 (or in this case, cabcar) third unit. Too bad the F40's are no longer on Amtrak's normal equipment roster...
