Remarks: This trip started out routine. However, true to the nature of real mountain railroading, things went wrong. Slick rails caused lots of slipping on the west side of Cumbres. So much so that more sand was brought in at Coxo, CO. Then, to make matters worse, 489 derailed at the west switch in the Los Piños valley. Very nice work, thanks for posting and especially, thanks for some memorable moments. Again, with this clip showing the wheels slipping, I hear my late mother telling me the story, many many years ago as I sat on her lap, of the little engine that could and my eyes get a little misty. I think I can....I think I can....
Wow, this gives us a pretty nice slice of life on the narrow gauge. The poor weather adds some texture to the video and the overall experience.
