Remarks: At 50 plus years, three CN GP9s show they are still capable of mainline duties, as they throttle up through Sunnyside with a solid train of autoracks. Are there any other class ones in North America that can duplicate this?

It's odd that CN has clung so tight to these GP9's, and let GP40's and GP38's fall into disrepair and retire them upon failure. These things have to be getting very costly to maintain.

Both CP and BNSF still have GP9s. BNSF even still has a few GP7s.

Not surprising since the 567 was the toughest and longest lasting block EMD ever produced. And the Canadian version was even better than the US, if you ask me. You can't kill these things.
Old faithful gp9...hard to beat on September 22, 2009
It's great to see three gp9's still earning their keep after all these years. Long live the jeeps!!!
