Remarks: Conrail 6618 C32-8 and a C40 are on the Monongahela Railway heading for Blacksville WV. As the train passes under the road bridge, you can hear the difference in the amount of cylinders that power the C32 and C40. The C40 sounds like its running faster because it has more cylinders. Both units are built be GE, (General Electic) There where only 10, C32-8's built in 1984. Conrail got all 10. They where 3200hp with 12 cylinders. Built in the late 1980's, the C40-8 had 4000hp with 16 cylinders. Thats why the difference in the sound. The 12 cylinder sounds slower than the faster reving 16 cylinder engine. Thanks for watching.
